Bookings. . .
Welcome, Haere Mai The Old Post Office Guesthouse is an historic old building circa 1903. On entering, look down and you will be standing on kauri planks milled in the Kaipara. You will also notice the hollow in both the front doorways worn down by countless feet. My great grand father and sons would have been among those that patronised the post office. They also probably popped into the old Saddlery next door ( where we live) to ask for saddle or stirrup mending. The building is old by NZ standards and was a working post office. Quaint and charming, every room is different. Many people love the building, however, if you prefer motel style it is possibly not going to appeal. The post office used to be at the centre of town, next door to the butcher, saddlery and stables but now the main village is located at the bottom of the hill, 5 minutes walk away. Paparoa is a friendly and very New Zealand village. Inhabitants range from farmers, business folk, artists, poets, teachers etc and most involve themselves in local activities. The Saturday Farmer's market, the annual Dog Day Out, Christmas on the green, the village Gala, Trash to Art and of course, volunteer in the world famous (seriously) Matakohe Kauri Museum, only 7 minutes away. Do come and visit. And, for personal service ring me direct, mob: 0211627185 or email [email protected] ka kite Deb The Garden room and/or the Watercolour room now have a kitchenette in the sitting room area. Completely self contained, although a lovely breakfast is still provided. This area may be booked as a couple only, or add extra guests. * Just a point to be aware of: the street level rooms( the old postmaster's suite, single and kakariki rooms) share a common sitting area and tea/coffee facilities. (The bathrooms are not shared). |
